All the new things 2025

As we move on, shifting both classes to the bigger space (initially only one was at Shirefit), I think it's important to reflect. The changes are both Lasses that Lift classes are now at Shirefit North Leeds. PT is available at both Shirefit North Leeds in Alwoodley and [MY]Gym Halton.

To recognise how far we've come.

We started off fighting for space in a commercial gym, then we tried a space that was outdoors but had tent roofing, it was wet & cold. Catch was kind enough to invite us to do our class once a week out of their gym and it was great due to it's temperature control, 4 walls, working toilet at hand and lack of mud and bugs We've been through it all!

.

I finally found @shirefit_ last year after scouring North Leeds for the right fit.

As lasses that lifts grew, I knew we'd need a more spacious gym, and as my neurodiverse vibes attracted more neuro spicy vibes, I also knew clients would benefit from a sensory friendly place. A safe space that's welcoming and friendly with ample parking. It's easy to find and not too busy, so it's not overwhelming.

There's several light switches, so I can control how bright the lights are for those with scotopic sensitivity. The walls are black anyway, so they absorb light, and it feels like a comforting sort of darkness (says my inner goth).

I can also turn the music down and change it to something else, which is nice. Again, it's all to make the classes less overwhelming and sensory friendly.

This amazing space has been the perfect soil (bear with my gardening metaphors) for lasses that lift to flourish! I remember when someone joined for one of the first classes at Shirefit. She struggled to lift 3kg dumbbells above her head. In the last class, she was overhead pressing the 15kg barbell!!!!! Wahhhhhhhh. Deadlifting 50kgs from 12kgs. The progress is incredible, and it's because this community builds as we uplift each other #werisebyliftingothers
